This site accompanies the teacher's pack created by members of The New Creatives, a writing group at The Lit & Phil Library, Newcastle. The group visited local heritage and cultural venues, and attended readings and workshops led by accomplished writers to inform their writing. The project explored conflict and resolution in its various guises, drawing on the personal experience of all members of the group.
Each piece of creative writing is published as submitted to keep the voice of its author.
This site has been created for use in the classroom with KS3 students. A lesson plan, drawn from each piece of creative writing, has been designed to support the citizenship curriculum. This pack is cross-curricular and includes activities that use a variety of learning styles to make citizenship engaging, important and relevant to your students.
This project is funded by Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) as part of the Their Past, Your Future programme and the Heritage Lottery Fund. It has been supported by the North of England Refugee Service. We would like to thank all the teachers who have given up their time generously to advise us in this project.
